Benin agog as Obaseki steps in as governor today
BENIN CITY the capital of Edo state is agog ahead today’s inauguration ceremony of Mr Godwin Obaseki as governor of Edo state and his Deputy, Philip Shaibu, with the arrival of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors yesterday.
Meanwhile, governor Adams Oshiomhole who will be handing over to Obaseki today at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, embarked on commissioning of several road projects constructed by his administration yesterday. The governor further appointed four new Permanent-Secretaries in the State. Those appointed are Mr Anthony Okungbowa, Ministry of Justice; Mr Kadiri Bashiru, Secretary, Nigeria Labour Congress; Mr Y.A Imoudu, Chairman, Association of Secondary School Principals and Mrs Obosamwinye Obazee, Headmistress. Some of the governors who arrived yesterday included Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and his Bauchi State counterpart, Alh Mohammed Abdulahi Abubakar and Mallam El-Rufai of Kaduna state. The national Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and other members of the National Working Committee are already in town. Other dignitaries being expected include national leader of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, governors of Kogi, Niger, Lagos, Osun, Oyo, and others. The Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, venue of the event has taken a new look. The chairman of the inauguration committee and Chief of Staff to the governor, Patrick Obahiagbon (Igodomigodo) said everything is set for the inauguration.
